Bellow compensator

Bellow compensator

Our bellow compensator is manufactured in compliance with GB/T12777-2008 and is optimized in reference to US EJMA standard.

I. Structure

The compensator adopts U-bellow and is composed of bellows, which form its main body consisting of end pipes, supports, flanges and conduits. The compensator is connected by flange or welding.

II. Function

With effective retraction and deformation of the bellows, the compensator is able to absorb size variation caused by temperature changes to the pipeline, conduit or containers, or it compensates the axial, lateral and angular displacement of the pipeline, conduit and container. It may also be used to reduce noise and vibration.

III. Features

1. Large compensation capacity, maximum tolerable pressure of 4MPa, good resistance to high/low temperature and corrosion and stable performance.

2. Compact structure, good elasticity and strength, low rigidity and fatigue life of 1000 cycles.

IV. Use

Bellow compensator is widely used in pipeline installation in industries of petroleum, thermal power, electric power, fuel gas and chemical. It is mainly for use as flexible connection between pipelines, to compensate thermal displacement and mechanical deformation of pipeline, to absorb high-frequency mechanical vibration, to reduce deformation stress on pipeline and to extend its service life.

V. Types

There are over 20 types of compensators in 3 major categories: axial, lateral and angular.
Axial compensators include: inward compression type, outward compression type, multiple type, balance type and buried type compensators.
Lateral compensators include: large pull rod lateral compensator and cardan hinge lateral compensators.
Angular compensators include: hinge compensator and cardan hinge compensators.

Working Pressure (MPa): 0.6, 1.0, 1.6, 2.5
Nominal Diameter: DN40~DN3000
This expansion joint is in fact made of two cardan expansion joints combined by a long middle pipe, and is able to absorb lateral bending displacement in any direction. Their hinge shafts are able to stand inward compression force.

Special compensator for boiler coal powder pipes
Displacement: Axial
Working Pressure: 0.25~1.6 MPa
Nominal Diameter: DN200~DN1000
The compensator is applicable to coal powder pipeline. The inner cylinder has equal wall thickness and service life to the pipeline. Its inner wall is smooth without sharp corners, causing no vortex or blockage.

Three-way bellow compensator for coal powder pipeline
Displacement: Lateral, angular, axial
Working Pressure (MPa): 0.6, 1.0
Nominal Diameter: DN200~DN600
The expansion joint combines the guide cylinder and connecting pipe as an integral structure with the same wall thickness, and therefore they share the same durability and pipeline design. Besides, inorganic fiber is used in the bellow pipes, to prevent coal powder from entering the bellow pipes and to ensure that the compensation functions of bellow pipes are not compromised.

Bellow compensator for coal gas pipeline - length regulator
Displacement: Axial
Working Pressure (MPa): 1.0, 1.6, 2.5
Nominal Diameter: DN100~DN1200
Pull rod of the compensator is not removed when in use, which adjusts the length of the compensator. The flange is usually in compliance with JB81-59 and also available as per customer flange standard.

Balance bellow compensator - multiple type
Displacement: Axial
Working Pressure (MPa): 0.6, 1.0, 1.6, 2.5
Nominal Diameter: DN100~DN1200
The expansion joint is composed of an inward working bellow and an outward balance bellow. It is small in size and the column buckling bellows double that of straight pipe balance compensators, because the two middle bellows that receive the external compression force have good stability, while the two bellows subject to internal compression force have two support points in the middle, each of which may be deemed as fixed on both ends. In calculation, only one group is counted.

Bellow compensator for exhaust pipe

Displacement: Axial
Working Pressure (MPa): 0.25, 0.6, 1.0
Nominal Diameter: DN32~DN4000
The expansion joint is composed of elastic stainless steel bellows, flange and guide cylinder. It has good elasticity, large displacement, good resistance to high temperature and corrosion, is easy to install and mainly used on exhaust pipes in power plants and power gensets.

Balance bellow compensator for curved pipe
Displacement: Axial, lateral (any)
Working Pressure (MPa): 0.250.61.0
Nominal Diameter: DN100~DN2200
The expansion joint is composed of two working bellows on its front part (Fluid conveying end) and one balance bellow on the rear part (blind end). Working bellow absorbs lateral displacement produced at the elbow, while the balance bellow absorbs axial displacement produced at the straight pipe. When lateral displacement is produced at elbow, the ball nut on pull rod rotates around the surface washer, and at the same time, the pull rod bears compression force. Therefore, the expansion joint is often used at outlets of pumps, tanks, compressors and turbine, in order to reduce forces applied to such equipment.

External compression bellow compensator
Displacement: Axial
Working Pressure (MPa): 0.25, 0.6, 1.0, 1.6, 2.5
Nominal Diameter: DN100~DN2000
Both ends of the bellows on the expansion joint are connected to outer and inner cylinder. The bellow pipe bears external compression force and has more bellows, and therefore it can absorb much of the axial displacement.

Cardan hinge bellow compensator
Displacement: Angular (any plane)
Working Pressure (MPa): 0.6, 1.0, 1.6, 2.5
Nominal Diameter: DN40~DN3000
The expansion joint has a cardan ring, around which there are two pairs of hinge structures that are perpendicular to each other, therefore it can absorb angular displacement on any plane. Usually when displacement is absorbed, two or three should be used together.

Small pull rod lateral bellow compensator
Displacement: Lateral, axial
Working Pressure (MPa): 0.25, 0.6, 1.0, 1.6, 2.5
Nominal Diameter: DN100~DN1500
The expansion joint is composed of two sections of bellow pipes, a middle pipe and a small pull rod with limiting nut. When it absorbs lateral displacement, it can also absorb axial displacement, and the small pull rod should not bear any inward compression force.

Axial inward compression single bellow compensator
Displacement: Axial
Working Pressure (MPa): 0.25, 0.6, 1.0, 1.6, 2.5
Nominal Diameter: DN40~DN500
The expansion joint is composed of one or more bellows connected in series, outside which there may be an outer sleeve that make the bellows move in axial direction. This type of expansion joint only absorbs axial displacement. The outer sleeve serves both as a protection mechanism to expansion joints with multiple bellows and as a mechanism to keep its stability.

Axial retractile bellow compensator
Displacement: Axial (with minor lateral and angular displacement)
Working Pressure (MPa): 0.6, 1.0, 1.6, 2.5
Nominal Diameter: DN15~DN12000
The expansion joint is composed of a bellow pipe and structural parts, and is mainly used to absorb axial displacement with minor lateral and angular displacement, and is also known as general-purpose compensator.

VI. Nonmetallic expansion joint

It is also known as fabric compensator and is composed of compound materials in multiple layers. The axial and lateral displacement absorbed depends on the axial length of the bellows. It can compensate displacement in several directions and installation errors, and reduce noise and vibration. It causes no resilience force and is light and easy to install. It is used to compensate displacement of pipeline and to reduce vibration of the low-pressure pipelines used in air conditioning vent system and gas (or dusty air) delivery in industries of steelmaking, petroleum and chemical, power generation and cement.
